Given the current economy, I am always in search of a bargain. With Spring Break and Summer 2009 fast approaching, I started looking at swimwear for my daughter. Now roll your eyes if you must, but I have found the cutest suits for my little girl. Plus, Target was already out of her size in one of the bathing suits I was after! Apparently other parents are also looking for early bargains.
I wanted to give readers a head up on these adorable bargains. I picked up the Cherry one piece and Floral Daisy suit. At $9.99 I also bought a Pink Striped Suit. Never fear, the boys haven't been left behind. With a distinct Hawaiian theme, Target offers up Hibiscus Swim Shorts and Jacuzzi Fish

I recently went through the joyous process of banishing the binky from our home. If I had to rank it I would put it up there with Dante's Inferno - Ninth Circle of Hell! Seriously, as parenting goes, it is right up there with potty training. It was miserable! I made the idiotic decision to let my daughter hold onto her binky for 3.5 years (feel free to judge). I think in the back of my mind I knew when it went so did her naps. Plus I had more than a few people tell me that my window to ditch said binky was shot! I should just wait till she turns 4 and have her pick a toy and give the binky up on her own terms. Why...why do I listen?
Anyway, I decided it was time. I looked over at

Thank you so much to all my blogging friends who have generously donated their time and postings to help me out over the past few weeks. I still have many of their great posts to share with you, so please continue coming back!

As for me, I am going through a very tough time right now.
It is a time in your life when you just do not want to get out of bed, much less get up and exercise. I am an emotional eater and there have been many times in the past few weeks that I have opted for the entire BOX of Thin Mints instead of the treadmill. Yet despite my best efforts, no amount of brownie bites, Milano cookies, or Junior Mints is going to make my situation any different. I shovel them down

Due to a family situation, I am on a blogging break. Today's post is from Leslie at NeverSayDiet, and it will make you laugh and hungry at the same time!

I don't usually watch television while working out but the other day on the elliptical, I grew tired of staring at myself in the mirror (shocker, I know) and so my eyes wandered to the woman on the machine next to me. More specifically, I looked at her TV screen, only to see a cast iron skillet brimming with huge chunks of steak. Really delicious-looking steak. Like, that-smells-orgasmic-take-me-to-your-butcher delicious. Like Pavlov's dog, I immediately pressed the "on" button on my remote

I am determined to get my legs in shape! I have a plan. I will eat healthy, exercise, and wear FitFlops.
I read on their website:
Every step you take in your FitFlops helps tone and trim your legs: Studies at Salford University by Dr. Philip Graham-Smith and Richard Jones have shown that the FitFlop midsole extends the amount of time that the slow twitch* muscles are engaged during each step (by approximately 10-12%). So just by wearing a pair of FitFlops you'll get more exercise while doing just exactly what you're normally doing. (*slow twitch muscles produce energy by converting fats into energy aerobically)
So this Friday I will be heading over to Zelaya shoes to get a pair! 4940 St.

I get a lot of inquiries about teaching moms how to better use their cameras. So I have been working on putting together some information to maybe offer a course on getting to know you camera. While I was looking for resources that are already available, I ran across this fabulous informational site created by Canon.
I think it's a great starting point for moms who have just purchased a DSLR (Canon or not), and want be able to use it more than just in automatic mode. Part 2: Using Camera Features for Better Photos is very informative, and even through the camera dial information is more specific to Canon cameras, can easily be applied to other brand cameras, since most have similar features

Yesterday a friend called me for advice about a "friend" of hers whose name she couldn't divulge. The dilemma was this: the "friend" recently got engaged and her fiance proposed to her with a ring that she isn't absolutely in love with. Now, let me tell you up front that the ring she received was a beautiful diamond ring with a platinum band that her fiance had upgraded from the original band. As nice as the ring is, the girl wishes that the band was different. Apparently it's "very thin." GASP! (insert sarcastic eye roll here)
At this point in the conversation with my friend, I started to get irritated. I started out suggesting that the girl gently suggest to her fiance that they get the

After spending time in the big city of Mumbai (India's New York), and then at the beach in Goa, we took a tour of the state of Karnataka aboard the new Golden Chariot luxury train. The historic stone cities were simply stunning, and the culture that we encountered along the way was always intriguing. Above you see the work animals painted and decorated in honor of the pongol festival. The day we arrived in Mysore, we were surprised to find pink and yellow cows all over the city.
The ruins of the city of Hampi were definitely one of the highlights of the tour. It is no wonder that it's a UNESCO World Heritage site. Not only the intracately carved temples and buildings, but the actual

It used to be pretty fun going out on special nights- New Year's, Valentine's Day; but as we all know: things change.
I've never been a fan of New Year's Eve anyway, because it can rarely live up to the hype associated with it.
My answer: GO OUT THE NIGHT BEFORE.
I have now done this for New Year's AND Valentine's Day and it works great.
My husband and I now have a tradition of going out on December 30th- there aren't the crazy crowds, babysitters are more readily available, and service isn't rushed.
Fast forward to Valentine's Day this year; we were planning on going out as a family for dinner to one of our favorite family restaurants on Saturday, February 14th...
then I got to thinking,

Ah, Bribery. I've never been a big fan, but sometimes you just gotta do it.
Case in point: my son going to the barber. Yes, I know he's 5, I should have started taking him to the barber literally, years ago. And just made him ‘cry it out'.
But I didn't. So now he's 5 and I've been cutting his hair all his life. This did not start out as a whole 'saving money' thing, although that part is nice. This happened because my son refused to go to the barber. He has thick, wavy hair; he actually has great hair, Paul Newman hair, but people, strangers, have always brought attention to it and him,
"Look at that head of hair!"
"You're so handsome." And then people, strangers, have actually ran

Here it is ladies - the perfect justification to your husband as why you "spend so much time on the doggone computer, blogging with people you don't even know" (or is it just my hubby that gives me a hard time?) Trust me, the man in your life will surely think that all your hours on the Web are totally worth it once you tell him you've won a $50 gift card to
The Home Depot! Why, it's Christmas in February.
Through February 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative "
Dream" gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When shoppers purchase the collector's edition "Dream" gift card, The Home Depot will donate 5% of all sales to the

We had the opportunity to spend a few days at the beach in the former Portuguese colony of Goa. The beach in Calangute was a lot of fun, with "shack" restaurants lining sand, and free, comfortable sunbeds that came with chair-side service. The water was just the perfect temperature for swimming and wasn't plagued with Jellyfish like the East Coast beaches can be.
