Shazam!! And just like that it opened. My new best friend had arrived! My description is a little over the top I admit but I was pretty excited when I bought the Folding Truck Organizer from The Container Store. I saw the product in a friend's backseat. As she was loading her double stroller I started to wonder why her SUV's backend was so neat. Then I saw this adorable black organizer. You should know I have a penchant for clean, organized space. I was glad to hear that it wasn't a gift from some long lost cousin who probably bought it in Abu Dhabi. Don't you hate when people won't tell you where they got the damn the product!
Good news...it is at your local Container Store for $9.99.

After living in the DC Metro area for nearly a decade, I am always looking for a new restaurant to add to the list of potential Saturday night escapes. After being told that I must see Clyde's Willow Creek Farm in Ashburn, VA, I admit I was a little leery. On date nights I tend to make my way into the District versus a suburban haunt. But friends assured me that Willow Creek was worth the trip.
While it wasn't DC or Arlington, I welcomed the opportunity to take a break from Rt. 66, Constitution Avenue and valet parking. It was very nice to take a leisurely ride to Loudoun County on a beautiful Virginia evening. Ahh...no traffic. In addition to a stress-free ride and plenty of parking, the

So it is blogging tradition to post 100 things about you when you make your 100th post. I did not even notice when I made my 100th post way back here. So now, as my 200th post, I will post 100 things about me. I don't think I'm close to deep enough to have 200 things about me.
1. I have been married for almost 12 years.
2. I am allergic to nearly all living things - animals, plants, flowers, etc. Even formerly living like fur coats!
3. I have only lived in 6 places in my life - and 2 of them were dorm rooms.
4. I LOVE 80s music. I can't tell you how many times I have seen Huey Lewis and the News in concert (and the most recent time was like 2 years ago!!!)
5. Despite having been addicted to Diet

Capitol Moms favorite BusyBodyBook Family Organizers have gotten even better with 2 new products that you are bound to love:
1) The Personal and Family Organizer with a weekly grid format, sturdy plastic overlay, pockets at the front and back covers to store "the stuff" and my favorite, the "to doodles" page to write those, all-too-important "forget me not notes".
2) The undated Fridge Pad - with a magnet at the back and enough space to write the we-need-it list and see everyone's schedule at a glance, makes this a favorite at my house.

So my oldest, K, goes to the local public school. And by local, I mean 2 doors away. I have to say that we are lucky to live in an area that has some of the best public schools in the country. That said, I know a bunch of people that send their kids to private school. That just kills me. You pay all this extra money in property taxes and other fees to live in an area with high quality schools - and you send your kid to private school. I just don't get it. But anyway...
In our County we have options for school - we can go to the neighborhood joint, or we can select other options- like Montessori or Spanish-immersion. But we really wanted her to go to the local school, and I am so glad we made

Ok seriously. I'm so pregnant right now it's not funny. I'm gi-mongous, hot, heavy, achy, exhausted, and cranky. I think it's about that time! Plus my belly is so tight right now that it's uncomfortable. And don't get me started on the Braxton-Hicks.
So it could be any day now! I just need the little guy to give me the weekend so that we can wash his clothes; pick up and assemble the furniture; and pack my hospital bag.
Oh and, it would be nice if I could get my hair and toes done. Call me vain if you want to, but it's before the baby comes or not for another 2 months!
Oh and I need gifts "from the baby" for Chatterbox and Giggles. I heard that goes over big time.
Alright baby, give Mommy until

So one of my close college friends is getting married this fall and she asked me to be a bridesmaid. Of course I accepted without hesitation, because she is one of my very good friends and I am so happy to be able to share her special day with her.
Oh, and she doesn't read this blog :)
Here's the thing -- her wedding is going to end up costing her bridesmaids an arm and a leg. A list of our expected costs:
Dress
Shoes
Accessories
Shower gift
Bachelorette Weekend in Vegas or Puerto Rico (airfare, hotel, food, other expenses)
Travel to the wedding, Hotel, Other expenses
Wedding gift
Maybe the problem is just my own since I will be on unpaid maternity leave in about 3 weeks, but I already forked over

Please join the staff of the National Museum Of the American Indian as they release ladybugs in the Native Croplands on the south side of the museum. These natural pest controllers are an eco-friendly and fun way to control pests in the landscape. The ladybug release will begin at 10 a.m. and may be dependent on weather. Please check the website or Welcome Desk for more information. Lady Bug Releases are held at the Native Croplands, on the museum's south side. What a great nature lesson for young and adult! Bring a stroller and plan for a walk on the National Mall after the release. Don't forget Metro for your travel needs, DC can be tricky during the week.

Not a new idea, but one that works for me!
A few weeks ago I started writing notes to my oldest and putting them in her lunch box. She has just started to read on her own, and I thought this would be a way of encouraging her.
It has been such a great thing. Everyday I send her a little note, and every day she writes me a note back. It has been so great. Her notes usually respond to something I said. Recent quotes from my sweet girl, "You are a good mom to me be cas you alp me wan I am sic"..."I am hipe that you love my school wrc", and my personal favorite "I love you becas you are my boust friend mom". Obviously spelling not a big concern in kindergarten. But is surely has been a great way

So for the first time in my life, I actually watched most of the NBA semi-finals and all of the finals this year! I don't know why this year was different - usually I am so resistant to watching any televised sports, but I got really into it this season. I knew when the games were coming on, players' names, random team trivia - it was fun. And most of all, it was fun to watch the games with hubby rather than flee to another room as soon as I heard the NBA finals theme song come on like I am used to doing. Last night's game was so good! We were up waaay past our bed time because we couldn't believe what was happening.
Now that it's over, I have to say that I'll miss our 9pm t.v. b-ball dates

Earlier today, in an attempt to be one of those go-getter mamas, the boys and I made the (short) hike to the park for some sun and interaction with the rest of humanity. Those of you who stay at home with your kids, you know exactly what I mean. Picture those last ten minutes of The Shining: Jack Nicholson, crazy hair, a severe personality disorder. You get it. See, lately, there's been this overwhelming feeling of "something has to change," like I want to take some real steps to improving the little things around here. The boys are getting old enough to join in the fun, and you can only go to the mall so many times before you're like "ok seriously, there is MORE TO LIFE than hanging out in

A thing of beauty is the simplest way I can describe an enchanting mural. Murals bring beauty to an otherwise bland, flat, one dimensional surface. The artist starts with nothing but an idea and suddenly a wall comes to life. I am always impressed with anyone that has artistic talent. I prefer a computer. I can cut, paste and navigate my way through a maze of fonts to come up with an appealing web page...but to craft an elaborate picture on a wall. Well...I am awe struck.
I recently hosted a shower for one of my best friends. She opted to have her shower at our friend's $1,000,000 PLUS...house. While that number doesn't mean what it used to...it still gets you some decent real
