It is time for another installment of "One Fit Mommy"! Each week I scour the blogosphere to find other fit moms who inspire me to fitness.
Our fit mommy this week is Jill, a busy mom with a toddler and another baby on the way. Jill is also the owner of FitOne Studio, a unique personal training boutique located in historic Old Town Alexandria, VA. Not only does she focus on her own active lifestyle, she is dedicated to helping others reach their fitness goals.
As many of us know, running your own business can be exhausting just in itself. Even with an extremely full schedule, Jill is still able to keep fitness a priority in her life.
Please read on for more about Jill and how she stays "One

Fall is officially here. To usher in the season, last weekend a friend and I took our kids to the pumpkin patch. Chatterbox and Giggles were so excited and reminded me throughout the week that we had to go "THEPATCHMOMMY!" to get our "punkin. " Finally, Saturday morning had arrived and we were off. Well, not without a fair share of "getting ready." I swear I started to get ready to leave the house around 8am (hubby was at football) and we did not pile into the car until about 11am. By now, I should certainly qualify for "veteran mother" status, but it still took me forever to get 3 kids and myself out the door. After 30 minutes of me trying all the tricks on the book to keep the girls awake

Written By A DC Metro Mommy Reader For Election 08.
Why I Support John McCain.
Our country faces many challenges. We have economic turmoil at home and dangerous enemies abroad. I don't remember Washington ever being so bitterly partisan. To navigate these difficult times we need a President who possesses strength, character and integrity, with experience in government, knowledge of foreign affairs and a record of bipartisanship. That man is John McCain.
I support John McCain because our nation requires a strong leader, a person of character, and a person who is willing to work with his opposition (whether domestic or international) without compromising either his principals or the

Why I support Barack Obama.
I have hope for our country. Hope we can return to the prosperity of the 90s.
Hope we can get our troops home safely. Hope we can provide for our citizens -
with quality healthcare and education for all, affordable housing, aid to the poor, fair wages and equal treatment. I believe we can once again be a peaceful nation. I believe that eventually we will return to budget surpluses like we had only 8 years ago. (!!) I believe people of all faiths, races, gender and sexual preference should have the same rights.
I believe there is one person who can get us there - and that person is Barack Obama. And yes, he does NOT have direct experience to be President.

It's been awhile since I've gotten the chance to write. Between a visit with the in-laws, days off from preschool, and the removal of my wisdom teeth, October has been a busy month but I'm back to give some advice on designing a nursery.
You probably want to start working on your nursery design and look when you are about 5 months along at the latest. Before you get started try and imagine the look and feel you want your nursery to convey. Do you like the classic looks a la toile or are you into clean lines with a modern flair? Baby furniture and bedding has come a long way in the past couple of years. Take a look at websites or stores and get an idea of what is out there. If you aren't

I am a liberal and a lobbyist. There I have said it. But when did these become bad words??
Liberal is defined as "favorable to progress or reform, as in political or religious affairs; favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, esp. as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties; of or pertaining to representational forms of government rather than aristocracies and monarchies; free from prejudice or bigotry; tolerant." Why are these bad qualities? I think these are great qualities. But all of a sudden "liberal" is thrown about as if it were a horrible thing to be. Well, I am a liberal and proud of it.
I am also a lobbyist.

Over the last couple of months, I have been looking for ways to entertain my little ones while sharing my love for food and cooking while not feeling like I've been sucked into the Kiddie-ville land of random ball shaped foods.
Recently, we received a copy of Kitchen Playdates by Lauren Deen (Chronicle Books). It's a beautiful book with bright, detailed pictures and clear, detailed instructions. As a cookbook aficionado, I loved it, but after trying it realized that some of the recipes are a tad expensive and a touch too-exotic and "adult" for my little ones, 2 year old and 10 months. So I tried the recipes out on some of my favorite mamas and papas and they were hits!

I have revised Nike's famous slogan and made one of my own. Instead of "Just do It", I am now living by the phrase "Just do something".
My husband travels a lot which leads me with little to no time for my own workouts anymore. I am beyond frustrated at this point and longing for the days when I could go out for a guilt-free run and then head to the gym for an hour or two.
Instead of taking advantage of what little windows I have, I have unfortunately fallen victim to the all or nothing principle. If I can't go for a long bike ride, then I might as well just sit on the couch and do nothing. Sound familiar?
So in comes my new mantra-Just do something! Even if that means that I do 25 jumping

Over the weekend we made applesauce. It was a big hit with the kids (well, the thought the end product was ok, but they loved making it). It was pretty simple - about 6-8 apples, some water, a bit of cinnamon, a bit of vanilla, cup of sugar, and some lemon juice. The kids loved peeling and coring the apples. And dumping everything in the pot. They also loved the mashing. We used a potato masher and just crunched it all up when the apples had softened. Makes me truly think of fall. (well, that and the 50 degree temperatures!!!)

My (
short) maternity leave is over and I'm back at work. Nevermind the commute, the long days, having to leave my adorable little baby behind -- the most frustrating thing about being back at work is...
having to pump. You would think that by now I would be an expert at this since this is baby #3 for me, but the truth of the matter is that it just doesn't get easier! Always one to help others though, I offer you the following tips when it comes to doing your motherly duty on the job.
1. Each morning, when leaving the house remember to pack ALL parts of your pumping paraphernalia to take along with you. This will avoid you getting into an argument with your husband, with whom you are
