As I have mentioned before, I have a serious foot injury that has kept me from running most of the summer. I can usually handle a quick 20 minute run before the pain takes over and I have to call it a day. There have been many days where I have thought to myself "why even bother at this point?" but there is just no point to that kind of negative thinking.
No, I'm not running the fall marathon that I signed up to do. (anyone need an entry?) I'm pretty bummed about it, but what can I do? I'm injured and need to adapt accordingly.
I've been focusing on kettlebell workouts, biking, and strength training. It has been fun but truthfully, I cannot wait to get back to running with the pack!
I want to

When we brought home our older daughter, my husband and I made a commitment to get portraits taken of her every month to document her growth. We went to the mall and got our free session and free 8x10 and made sure we had each month documented, and on good months, we bought some extra photos to share with relatives.
From my own experiences--first as a parent, and later as a photographer--I came to learn that there were better ages to get portraits done, and that they don't always coincide with the times that you're most likely to want portraits (like their first birthday). And when you're investing in custom portraiture, it's not like my first year of monthly photos from the mall--you want

A few months back I did a post about the Bisphenol A (BPA) in water bottles and the potential for side effects. BPA is an estrogen-like chemical that can leach into your drink. It may be linked to health problems, including breast cancer and early puberty. Canada is considering banning the use of it altogether.
My own water bottles were not the only issue though. I realized that most of my kid's sippy cups also contain BPA! Why on earth do they manufacture children's cups with toxic chemicals?!
Thankfully, I was able to find the Safe Sippy Cup. It is a non-leaching stainless steel cup with a hard plastic, angled spout, removable plastic handles, and a cool rubber-like plastic sheath.

Aalto Top
Whether they have an infant or a really busy life many of my clients prefer washable tops over dry clean only. I love this top from Anthropologie. It is perfect for layering. Try it with a black or charcoal gray cardigan for a stylish casual look for work or play. Edme & Esyllte wove lustrous rayon into a structural marvel of origami ruffles and abbreviated cap sleeves. Rayon, Machine wash.

Need a way to avoid those tempting treats at the grocery store? Try Peapod's online grocery delivery service!
When I go to the grocery store, I always bring home unhealthy snacks because my kids (and husband!) are crying for it or because I am shopping when hungry and convince myself that I need a bag of chips right now!
However when I used Peapod, my cart was packed full of fresh fruits, veggies, chicken, bread, etc. No treats were selected. Most likely it was the "out of sight, out of mind" theory, but I also thought about the person who would be packing my groceries. Did I want he/she to know that I am weak when it comes to Milano cookies? I didn't want the shopper to "judge" my groceries,

Inside the gates of the White House grounds
Help me stop the negativity and pessimism about the future of America today...and turn into Hope. The confident expectation in the future of our families and the future of America.
I'm tired of the campaigning surrounding the election...and the media coverage of it only discussing the worst about our country instead of the hope that we have in our future! I'm tired of everyone being so negative and pessimistic about this Bank Bailout in the news freaking everyone (and the stock market) out.
Where is the optimism?
I challenge you...to be hopeful and optimistic today in your job...in your home...and to the media. To trust that the people working

I have been a bad blogger. This week has been crazy at work - and I have 3 trips in the next 7 days. I don't usually travel - but I have been doing a lot in the last few weeks. All is going good. I am LOVING my diet. I am down 28 lbs since July. 28 lbs!!!!! Woo hoo! And I don't feel all hungry or denied. I am also more committed to exercise - both running and that killer b$(*$ Jillian's 30-day shred video.
Was in Orlando this week for work and picked up some Disney Dollars to give the girls when we tell them about the trip. We plan to tell them around the 8th of October. (I am making a countdown calendar to help them see how far away it is.)

Thankfully, my little girl is a reader (well-pre-reader) and my little boy is a book-eater, but I am confident that it will turn into a love of reading and one of their favorites are the Richard Scarry books featuring Busytown.
The super-fabulous folks at Imagination Stage, known for great children's theater, have created a special show for those aged 2 and up. Here's a short blurb about the show.
Big day today!" is how the characters greet each other in Busytown, Richard Scarry's vividly drawn world. As the day unfolds, Grocer Cat, Stitches the Tailor, and Alfalfa the Farmer tell of their jobs in silly songs and scenes. One catchy number explores vehicles from the Broom O'Cycle to the

One of my new favorite places to shop is Second Chance Consignment boutique in Bethesda, MD.
I love this white and navy sleeveless dress by Courreges circa 1960, with a white current Gucci belt. The dress sells for $220 and the belt is $180.
Along with vintage, Barbara Blesi, the very savvy and fashion forward owner, carries current designers including Prada, Marc Jacobs, Manolo Blahnik, and more.

I can't believe October is right around the corner! We noticed the unique warty pumpkins over at our neighborhood hardware store, Stalcup's, a couple week ago, and the girls have been talking about them ever since. Today when we told them they could pick out a warty pumpkin to help decorate our front stoop, they were thrilled. Nothing like a silly pumpkin to brighten up an on-and-off rainy day.

(not my actual kids)
This past weekend I took my twelve year old daughter and three of her friends shopping. One of the stores they like is H&M. It is a great store for preteens and teens, because the clothes are trendy and inexpensive. Fads changes and teens grow quickly, so quality is not an issue for them. While I was waiting f. or my little fashionistas to try on the entire store, I found a purple knit scarf for $14.90 for me. I think H&M is great for accessories or a little fun blouse to add to your wardrobe. If you do choose to shop there, look at the quality of the fabric, the cut of the item, and age appropriateness of the piece. The price may be tempting, but choose wisely.

I have no idea how it happened, but last week this mama went out on the town, sans kids, THREE times!! On Tuesday night, some friends and I went to Shecky's Girls Night Out for an evening of shopping, free cocktails, and a fly goodie bag. Can't beat that. It was really fun. It was nice to get dressed up and hang out with other women my age in a hip and relaxed atmosphere. Even though I could only manage one cocktail (because I'm a lightweight and because I'm nursing), it was a great outing. I even got myself a fabulous watch. When it was time to go, the rest of the gals went to a late night happy hour, but I headed home -- exhausted, but content.
On Friday hubby and I went out on a "date" to

It is time for another installment of "One Fit Mommy"! Each week I scour the blogosphere to find other fit moms who inspire me to fitness.
This week I am excited to introduce Linda, a 40-something married mom of two teens living in suburban Chicago. Linda is a part-time Legal Assistant by day and personal trainer at most other times.
I follow Linda on Twitter and I'm always impressed by her energy and dedication to fitness. She is busy juggling two jobs/careers yet does not let that stop her from finding time to exercise. She makes fitness a priority, which is precisely why Linda is "One Fit Mommy"!
Please read on for more about Linda and be sure to visit her blog over here.
Q: Have you always
