Jodie's Living Room

Will I return to the workforce when the kids go off to school?  For many Stay-at-Home Moms the question is a natural one.  For most women, the next question is "Will there be a job to return to?".

I recently toured the new DREAMHOME - Jewel Tone of Design exhibit at the Washington Design Center.  I had an opportunity to meet the designers and view the inspiring jewelry collections that informed the space.

It was wonderful to meet with the talented designers and have them share different design elements and installations that only a trained eye would normally recognize.  As a design voyeur it was a wonderful morning.

1. What were you doing before you became a SAHM and how has the transition been?

I have been working for years in the advertising and marketing industry and was Director of Strategic Planning for an office of McCann Erickson. When I had my first daughter I cut back to part time and inched back the hours again after the birth of my second daughter, until I finally decided after the birth of my third daughter, to stay home full time. Lately I find myself in full on organization mode.  I suppose it could be the added hours that I am spending at home due to the weather.  Things have gotten so bad that I even raided The Container Store to get new shelves for my kitchen pantry.   Yes...even the pantry has made the list.

Decisions, decisions!  I am in the process of choosing a new rug for my guest bedroom.  I would like to spice up the room with something fresh.  I am total creature of habit and lean toward earth tones.  This room is my take on fun.  I have a mint color on the wall and want something that will scream "Good Morning" when I walk by it everyday.
