If you haven't visited Baltimore lately, now is perfect time to take your children to visit Port Discovery. Ranked 4th among the Top 10 Children's Museums by Child Magazine, Port Discovery Children's Museum continues to grow as one of the leading family destinations in the Mid-Atlantic region.
In 2011, Port Discovery's newest permanent exhibit, Tot Trails, opened as an exciting and whimsical soft playspace designed exclusively for infants and toddlers up to 3 years old. While exploring the landscapes of Maryland, babies can wiggle and roll in mirrored "tidal pools" and crawl through the "dune walk." Toddlers can dig for fossils, climb through Mountain Trail and Paw Paw

I recently saw the movie a "Race to Nowhere". A friend mentioned that this Indie flick was playing at a local theater for a limited audience and tickets were going fast. Always intrigued by a "hot" topic, I decided to attend.
I went to the film with an open mind. I was beyond troubled by what I saw. The film gives a sobering assessment of today's educational system. The film is filled with interviews conducted with overstressed, homework ridden students from elementary school through college. The prevailing theme for every age group is that each struggles to keep up with societal expectations as well as the mandatory educational requirements of today's public school system.

As most women will agree there are a few in life that are very hard to find. My list includes a wonderful husband (I will give the obligatory shout out to my amazing husband Jim), a babysitter and a cleaning service.
Well today I found one of those rare gems. I just fell in love with my new cleaning service. A friend told me about LMC Cleaning. I have been shopping for a new service and was willing to try someone new. LMC Cleaning blew me away. My stove has never been so clean. Actually, I have to admit I was a bit embarrassed by what they saw behind the range knobs. How did I somehow forget about the one knob on the range top? Let's not even discuss the vents. They scrubbed and

I think I am in love! I recently got my latest Lucky Magazine and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a Lucky Magazine for Kids!
The oh-so-lovely Angie Harmon graces the cover of the premier issue with two of her gorgeous little girls. I devoured the entire issue at the gym. While it is still only seasonal (Spring & Fall), it is a worthy read. In standard Lucky form, the magazine is brimming with great ideas on fashion, design and fun products. It even inspired me to finally get the Johnson & Johnson detangling spray for my little girl. No conditioner isn't enough=;/
Even better, the magazine is filled with deals and coupons including a 20% coupon for Gymboree and a special

This fall Del Ray's eclectic "Avenue" welcomed Bellies & Babies, a consignment boutique catering to expectant mothers and their children. The boutique provides a great opportunity to both recycle and buy local. Handmade items complement a selective collection of gently worn clothing, and the prices fit every budget.
Owner Dawn Luepke's experience prompted her to open the boutique; she had her daughter, Emma, and her son, Aiden, only 15 months apart. A former Housing and Urban Development manager, she was expecting Emma while working full-time and needed an appropriate professional wardrobe. The clothes she did purchase weren't practical once she became a stay-at-

Fresh from the Saturday evening performance, I am hear to tell you that The Happy Elf is a wonderful show for little ones and adults!
I wasn't sure what to expect when we headed over to the Adventure Theater show The Happy Elf. After the show started I waited for my daughter to do her typical wiggle left and wiggle right and demand to leave way too early. Not so this time. My 5 year old sat completely entranced for the entire 70 minute show. She marveled at the characters, the music and the fun story of an elf named Eubie who needs to save Christmas for the town of Bluesville.
The show also promises to be a hit with parents. Harry Connick Jr. wrote the music and lyrics to the

I have recently seen a number of articles on the Feed Project. Lauren Bush, the Co-Founder and CEO of Feed Project LLC, has been a dedicated spokeswoman of the Feed Project. For years Lauren has vaulted the project into the public eye simply by wearing the Feed Project bags to a number of red carpet events.
Anxious to find out more, I read up on this inspirational and effective project that aims to feed hungry children throughout the world. The mission statement of the Feed Project says it all.

FEED Projects goal is to reach hungry children through the sales of our FEED bags.

School Readiness
By - Maureen Barrett
No matter how much fun gets packed in my family's summer calendar, there is something bittersweet about turning that calendar page to "August" and the passing of these cicada-symphonic days that somehow seem to rush by faster than those first anticipatory summer days in June, when my kids couldn't wait for school to let out. Circulars pad my Sunday paper with ads trumpeting Back to School sales for clothes, school supplies, dorm furnishings... and I contemplate, not for the first time, where resides that place where I can enjoy one more day/week/month of all those things I am not ready to give up? And yet...
As a preschool teacher and mother of four
