My 5 year old daughter, Zoe, is slightly obsessed with Mary Poppins. She's probably watched the movie 10 times...So as we were crossing the Potomac on the way to the Kennedy Center performance, I was trying to explain that Julie Andrews and Dick van Dyke were NOT actually going to be there - but it was going to be OK.
I knew the performance would be roughly 3 hours which could be a bit much for a 5 year old, but this was her first theater experience so I was confident there would be sufficient awe of it all to hold her interest.
