I got this book shortly after having my daughter. During those sometimes endless days and nights, this was one of the few sources for of humor for me. A must read☺

If you are breastfeeding, this is great book to guide you through the sometimes difficult journey of "latching on" and sore nipples. Oh what has life become? I digress. The book also does a fabulous job of providing a starter schedule and with anticipated daily activities. It gave me a foundation for my little one, which I desperately needed. Noteworthy, MAKE A NOTE, ALL KIDS ARE DIFFERENT. The book tends to lump all infants into one category. Don't believe the hype. You child might not be sleeping through the night by 8 weeks. Sorry...but you needed to know this. Many well meaning mothers would let little ones cry it out because they were suppose to be weaning off a certain feeding. My child was 100% on the weight charts and she wasn't be fussy, SHE WAS HUNGRY! The book is a guide, not the gospel!

I really enjoyed this book, but do feel that is it becoming a wee bit dated. The author, who does have some great stories, starts to show the age of the book through her "stirrup pant" stories. Still, some information is eternal. Her "packing for the hospital" chapter is dead on and gives some great advice. Noteworthy, this is a great read, some of the subsequent books in her series I could have lived without.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! My daughter still wasn't sleeping through the night at 5mths. I was convinced that I was doing something wrong. I had a solid routine of bath, bottle, bed. I just didn't get it! What was I doing wrong? I overheard another mother describing the book and immediately bought it. I spent every free minute reading each and every chapter. It worked! I will be honest, in the beginning stages from 4mths to 9mths, it is a very regimented program that calls for baby to be put down for a nap every 2 hours after waking. I tried the routine and it really worked for me. The book gets into the academics of sleep and gives you quite an education on the topic. I learned a great deal about my daughters sleep habits and nutritional needs. And, at long last, she started sleeping through the night. Life does get easier, I promise☺

This will be your Motherhood Encyclopedia. You will start to pull it from your shelf like a professional manual or DIY book. If you question isn't in this book, go to IVillage! Noteworthy, additional books in the series are equally good.
