Millennium Stage Free @ The Kennedy Center
For those who haven’t attended a show at the Millennium Stage, it is time to head downtown. This is the ideal opportunity to introduce young children to the wonders of the stage. All of the Millennium shows are free to the public and are held almost daily around 6pm. For a full list of the upcoming shows, click here.

Set in present-day Georgetown, Shear Madness engages locals and visitors alike as armchair detectives to help solve the scissor-stabbing murder of a famed concert pianist. The show combines up-to-the-minute improvisational humor and audience sleuthing to deliver a unique performance each night. Don’t forget to take in the amazing view of the Potomac from the Kennedy Center patio during intermission. If time allows go for a drink at the Georgetown Waterfront or have dinner. Link

Activities for children, which are fun and promote reading, can be found in the popular "Let's Read America" pavilion. The Pavilion of the States salutes literary traditions of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories. Many great reads are available in the Book Sales Pavilion. Cirque du Soleil Returns To The DC With OVO - Win Tickets!
I have long been a fan of *Cirque du Soleil. I have seen two shows in the DC Metro area and one in Las Vegas. The shows are simply mesmerizing. It is beyond astonishing what the human body can do with limited support, suspended in mid-air. Set to music, each Cirque du Soleil* show promises gravity defying acts executed by gifted dancers and performers. You are taken to another world. Understandably, I was elated when I heard about the new *Cirque du Soleil* show that is coming to our area. *Cirque du Soleil* will return to Washington DC with its latest production, OVO. OVO will premiere on Thursday September 9, for a limited engagement under the trademark blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau (Big Top) at The Plateau at National Harbor in Washington DC. A bit about the show, the name OVO means “egg” in Portuguese. OVO is a headlong rush into a colorful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love. The show promises a non-stop journey of energy and movement. I am actually taking my little girl to this year's show. The performances are Tuesdays thru Thursdays at 8:00 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. There are no performances on Mondays. Not only has this much-awaited tri-state area event become a local favorite but attendees come from up and down the east coast enjoying the best in local flavor in music, dance, arts and more. AM Day is now a nationally known event that celebrates the international and cultural diversity that makes DC's Adams Morgan neighborhood so popular. AM Day also showcases this DC neighborhood known as an ethnic and eclectic retail, arts, entertainment and restaurant locale.

The Black Family Reunion Celebration (BFRC) is a two-day cultural event that is recognized as the largest, most significant family event in the nation, attracting more than 500,000 people each year! The 3-day festival celebrates the enduring strengths and traditional values of the African American family. The BFRC features themed pavilions that showcase African American businesses and organizations. Health, education and economic empowerment are just a few of the pavilions exciting themes. The weekend celebration includes a VIP Gala, themed pavilions and an enchanting evening R&B concert on the National Mall. The event is held in early September. Check out this awesome annual Fall Festival that offers up hayrides, pumpkin tosses, kid friendly farm animals, kettle corn, apple cider, live entertainment, slides and a petting zoo. Pick a beautiful day and head to Centreville, VA. My child even at the age of 13 months LOVED this event. Noteworthy, concession stands, ample parking, a friendly crowd and lots of open space make this a fun and easy day for the whole family. Don't forget to take your stroller. Little ones tend to loose steam before they reach the car.

The customer service is excellent. For those that aren't familiar with Clifton, think Norman Rockwell meets Mayberry. You will immediately feel transported into on another time as you enter Clifton. Local performers entertain children in the simple Clifton Town Hall . It is perfect for Junior. The meeting room has none of the usual distractions that you find in a traditional store.
