Shear Madness is the Comedy Whodunit That Lets the Audience Solve the Crime! Set in present-day Georgetown, Shear Madness engages locals and visitors alike as armchair detectives to help solve the scissor-stabbing murder of a famed concert pianist. The show combines up-to-the-minute improvisational humor and audience sleuthing to deliver a unique performance each night. Don’t forget to take in the amazing view of the Potomac from the Kennedy Center patio during intermission. If time allows go for a drink at the Georgetown Waterfront or have dinner. Link

Cirque du Soleil Returns To The DC With OVO - Win Tickets!
I have long been a fan of *Cirque du Soleil. I have seen two shows in the DC Metro area and one in Las Vegas. The shows are simply mesmerizing. It is beyond astonishing what the human body can do with limited support, suspended in mid-air. Set to music, each Cirque du Solei* show promises gravity defying acts executed by gifted dancers and performers. You are taken to another world. Understandably, I was elated when I heard about the new *Cirque du Soleil* show that is coming to our area. *Cirque du Soleil* will return to Washington DC with its latest production, OVO. OVO will premiere on Thursday September 9, for a limited engagement under the trademark blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau (Big Top) at The Plateau at National Harbor in Washington DC. A bit about the show, the name OVO means “egg” in Portuguese. OVO is a headlong rush into a colorful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love. The show promises a non-stop journey of energy and movement. I am actually taking my little girl to this year's show. The performances are Tuesdays thru Thursdays at 8:00 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. There are no performances on Mondays. Cirque Club members can purchase advance tickets at this LINK. Membership is free. The Kennedy Center Opera House plays host to this fabulous show that runs from July 1 – August 22, 2010. An all-star cast will greet audiences. The musical has won wide acclaim on Broadway and London. The songs will immediately come back to you. Mary Poppins is truly a unique show. The show provides a rare occasion to share your own childhood memories with your kids. As you would expect, tickets are going fast, especially for matinee shows! Cherry Blossom Festival

Just as weary locals are more than ready to put away their shovels and gloves along comes the Cherry Blossoms. For the Metro DC area this event ushers in a spring right of passage. The celebration is held for two week and culminates with a parade. Noteworthy, for those that haven't seen it you must, must go at least once. It is truly breathtaking (stop laughing) to see 3,000 trees come to life at the Jefferson Memorial & Tidal Basin. Try to go on a weekday and enjoy the site without the rest of humanity that comes to the area for this momentous event☺ Parade will be held on April 10, 2010. LINK

St. Patrick's Day Parade – DC

Break out the green and get ready for a parade! DC's plays host to an entertaining day of floats, marching band, Irish Dance troop and of course bagpipers. The 3 hour event is typically held the Sunday before St. Patty's Day. The parade route begins at Constitution Avenue and runs from 7th and 17th Streets. LINK

The Parade begins at King and West Streets at 12:30 p.m. and follows a route down King Street, past the reviewing stand at North Royal Street, and ends at the corner of King and Fairfax Streets. The parade is expected to conclude by 2:30 p.m. All events are free to the public. Metrorail riders should use the King Street Metro stop where DASH bus shuttle service is available to and from the parade festivities. LINK

Wash Home & Garden Show

Held annually at the DC Convention Center, this massive undertaking presents over 800 vendors, millions of flowers and thousands of products. In keeping with DC fashion, this is one of the BIGGEST shows of its kind in the country. If you are design enthusiast or just looking for kitchen ideas, don't miss this show. Noteworthy, held for 4 days in early March, the event welcomes children. I would recommend leaving Junior at home or bringing a stroller can be long day with a lot of walking. LINK
