![]() Grab a friend and head for Cleveland Park in NW DC. This is an awesome cooking class that blends food, wine and fun all into a delightful evening. The class setting is a 1913 home in Cleveland Park. Classes are taught by Ed and Jinny, a spirited couple who have been sharing their culinary skills with the DC Metro area for years. Instruction is light and is set to music with a small group of folks. Your efforts are rewarded. The evening ends with either an outdoor meal on their beautiful patio or inside in a cozy dining room. The best part of the meal, the company and not having to do the dishes. View the website for a list of upcoming classes. LINK |

Bailey's Smokehouse & Tavern 4238 Wilson Blvd.
Arlington VA 22203
703-465-1300
If you want a comfy couch, waitress service and tons of big screen TVs to watch EVERY game, Bailey's is your spot. Noteworthy, order early and often. During busy game days the wait staff is typically slammed and it can be hard to get a refill. The finger food is filling but not the best.
Buffalo Wing University
10312 Willlard Way
Fairfax VA 22030
703-273-6336
Great suburban destination for watching the game. Lots of TVs, wings and more. Be warned, George Mason is within striking distance. This venue typically plays host to a large crowd of college kids. Plus VA still allows smoking in their bars. So expect to come out smelling like a Marlboro!
Champsport
Check website for DC Metro locations
One of the better sports venues in the DC Metro Area. For food, fun and a kid-friendly atmosphere, go early on game day. I brought my then 3 mth old to watch the Eagles' game at Champs. I was pleasantly surprised with the accommodating staff that was able to get us in the main dining room next to the TV/game of our choice. Noteworthy, a Little Champps kid's menu is also available for Junior.
Crystal City Sports Bar
529 23rd Street S
Arlington VA 22202
703-521-8215
The sport pub that you MUST check out. The Crystal City Sports Bar has something for everyone. It has a multiple personality of sorts. Upon entering you half expect to scream out "Norm" to one of the many regulars that inhabit the first level. Work your way up to the second level and discover more pool tables and a new outdoor deck. When you are ready to graduate onto the big league work your way to the all NEW 3rd Level. The owners have created a space that reminds you of a Vegas playbook room. Now here is a great surprise, there is "no smoking" on the third floor! Good food, fun crowd and tons of TVs to take in any possible game you could want to see!
Politiki Pour House
319 Pennsylvania Avenue SE
Washington DC 20003
202-546-1001
Ok so if you have a Steelers fan in the house, as I do, you must make a trip to Politiki a.k.a The Pour House. The bottom level is shrouded with Pittsburgh memorabilia. The upscale second level is a bit of a preppy domicile during college game day. It is a mix of DC staffers, Univeristy of Michigan alum and everyone else who lives in the area and wants a festive crowd to hang with during the game. Noteworthy, given the area, it is not surprising that the crowd is somewhat young on most days. Now here is the great news, NO MORE SMOKING IN DC BARS!
Rhino's & Pumphouse
3295 M Street NW
Washington DC 20007
202-333-3150
Count it! This is the spot for Philadelphia Eagles fans and I guess others who love to catch a big game. Fun, filled to the brim on game days, this is great spot for a pitcher of beers and a hearty crowd to share in your die hard team loyalty!
Southside
815 South Washington Avenue
Alexandria VA 22314
703-836-6222
Southside is always a crowd pleaser. Located on the edge of Old Town Alexandria, it is very much a "Cheers" kind of bar. Lots of locals mix with strays that have found their way to Southside for the great food and lively atmosphere. In addition to being a great "cheap eats" spot, you also will have a great time watching a game with Southside's choice of 12 TVs. Noteworthy, try the fried green tomatoes. Yum! |
