![]() Grab a friend and head for Cleveland Park in NW DC. This is an awesome cooking class that blends food, wine and fun all into a delightful evening. The class setting is a 1913 home in Cleveland Park. Classes are taught by Ed and Jinny, a spirited couple who have been sharing their culinary skills with the DC Metro area for years. Instruction is light and is set to music with a small group of folks. Your efforts are rewarded. The evening ends with either an outdoor meal on their beautiful patio or inside in a cozy dining room. The best part of the meal, the company and not having to do the dishes. View the website for a list of upcoming classes. LINK |

Ledo Pizza
Check website for DC Metro locations
Forget the pizza and go for the cheesesteaks. Trust me, I hail from Philadelphia and I even worked at a hoagie (no not "Sub") shop during my high school years. I know the real deal and Ledo has found it. They have a great roll, wonderful melted cheese and just the right amount of toppings to make it one of the best cheesesteaks in the area! Noteworthy, the restaurant offers a family friendly environment. Ledo is often staffed with peppy high school students that bring a hometown feel to the locations. A great kid's menu is available for little ones.

Fondue for all. This is fun girls' night out or a fresh approach at date night. Despite the roll of the eyes that you will get from your hubby, I think you will find they are quickly jumping into cheese fondue and irresistible melted chocolate and strawberries. Older kids love to experiment with the all the possible culinary concoctions.

Old Ebbit Grill
675 15th Street
Washington DC 20005
202-347-4801
Old Ebbit Grill is the quintessential DC restaurant. Located just block from the White House, Old Ebbit is the ideal starting point for a day in DC. The verdict is still out on the food. While good, it is hard to compete with some it more food savvy neighbors. Still, celebrity spottings, Friday night happy hours, and the fabulous valet parking makes this a spot to keep in your Blackberry. While kids are welcome, I can think of a number of local spots that would be more kid friendly.

Noteworthy, Pie-tanza received top honors on the AOL City guide’s top 10 "Family-Friendly" restaurants in the DC area. Final note, if you are craving something sweet, there is a Baskin Robbins in the same shopping center.

Silverardo
7052 Columbia Pike
Annandale VA 22203
703-354-4560
For those that aren't familiar with the local leader in customer friendly, food fabulous dining, let me introduce you to the Great American Restaurant chain. Comprised of Arties, Best Bun Bread Co., Carlyle Grand, Coastal Flats, Mike's American, Silverado and Sweetwater Restaurants this is one of the best pairing of service and food that I have witnessed by a chain. Excellent food and courteous service are a mainstay at all the locations. Take advantage of the call ahead service that normally allows you to put your name in 15 minutes prior to arrival. It will knock a bit of time off of your wait. Going for a weekday lunch, hit it before 11:30am or you are in for wait. Note, it is not as inexpensive as you may think.
