In the middle of the bustling town center of Alexandria sits the ultimate farmers' market. The mantra of this market should be "The early bird catches the worm". The Alexandria Farmers' Market is open year-round from 5am - 10am every Saturday. Excellent for early risers, insane for everyone else. In my former life, I had friends who left the DC bar scene to head home, change and charge over to this market. People are that committed this cornucopia of fresh veggies, baked goods, farm fresh local eggs, kids dolls & toys, country crafts, and a nice offering of refreshments. I found it to be a perfect destination if you are looking to spend a morning or build a day in Old Town. It is steps from great shopping. Arlington

The Arlington Farmers' Market in located at N. Courthouse Rd. and N. 14th. Every Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon this outdoor market bustles with activity. You will be delighted with the never-ending selection of fresh produce, bountiful flowers, local dairy made cheeses, delectable baked goods, tree ripened-raspberry and more! Here it is the mecca of DC Farmers' Markets. The market has one of the largest assortment of wares that I have seen at a farmers' market. There are parking lot filled to the brim with local artisans' work, antiques and crafts. From there you graduate onto a number of local outdoor street vendors with an assortment fresh vegetables, fruit and even clothing at some stations. Finally make your way into the circa late 1800s South Hall market building. It is alive with activity and filled with meats, cheeses, flowers and lots of tasty made-to-order foods. The farmers' market is open year round, six days a week. Fairfax County Farmers’ Markets
