A fun destination in the heart of Loudoun County. The mall comes complete with an above average indoor playground. Noteworthy, for mommies with little ones, Dulles Town Center Mall offers the Munchkin Kids Klub that meets the second Wednesday of every month for kids 2 - 5 years of age. You can sign up at the customer service desk in the mall. In addition, for $1 you can ride the Dulles Express train throughout the shopping center from Center Court to Hecht's or from Center Court to Sears! Fair Oaks Mall has done a nice job of attracting some great retail talent. With Pottery Barn Kids, Janie & Jack, Gymboree, Children's Place, Baby Gap and Talbot Kids there is no shortage of retail therapy for Junior's clothing needs. The mall has also just revamped the existing play area. The play area offers a faux train with cars that make noise when Junior jumps on to play conductor. There are pint size slides and lots of sound effects to add to the experience. Noteworthy, without the benefit of a door you will inevitably being running after your little one. Stop off at Annie's Pretzel stand that is a few feet from the play area. It is always a nice way to end the shopping day.

Pump It Up, is the inflatable party that kids adore! They have a number of birthday packages for kids two and older. It is a really cool idea for an active birthday celebration that little one and their friends will love! Don't forget to head over to Pump It Up for weekday Pop-In Playtime. Pop-In Playtime offers kids 2 and up the fun of bouncing, sliding, jumping, and climbing for 90 minutes. It is a great way to change up the week or just escape a bad weather day. Other fun events include, Family Jumptime and open sessions on the weekend. They even have pizza for family night! If you are in a playgroup, take advantage of Private Bounce Time. It is an ideal package for Mom's Groups. Check the website for locations and desired times. Note, Pump It Up tends to fill up during open sessions. Get there a little early to ensure a spot.

Springfield Mall is a nice destination for middle of the road stores such as Macy's, JC Penneys and Target. The mall has a nice offering for little ones. The Moms & Moppets Kids Club showcases monthly children’s entertainment and extends mall discounts. The club meets the second Wednesday of each month at 10am and 11am in the JCPenney Court. Each month features a different entertainer. The shows run 45 minutes and encourage Junior to get involved with interactive play. Even better, membership is free. Noteworthy, the construction around the Springfield mixing bowl can be tough. Try to go during off hours.

One of the best malls in the DC area. Tysons Corner along with Tysons Galleria offers a wide array and range of stores. Everything from Nordstrom to JC Penneys and even Neiman Marcus if you are so inclined. The more expensive, much less kid friendly real estate is the Galleria. If you are opting for a family excursion stick with Tysons main mall. It now has a movie theater, multiple book stores, hard to find shops like Hanna Andersson, L.L. Bean and H&M Kids. The restaurant selection is wonderful. For little ones, the main attraction is the children's play area. The play area is colorful, inviting and best of all clean! Sign up for the Kid's Club and receive a free t-shirt, membership card and admission to fun events. Kid's Club meets the first Saturday of every month from 10am until 11am at the Food Court on Level 3. Currently Mr. Knick-Knack makes an appearance in the Children's Play area every Friday at 11am. Noteworthy, while this is one of the best mall play areas that you will find in these parts, be alert. Like too many play areas in DC Metro area, this one doesn't have a gate or a door. I have known more than a few folks who had Junior disappear in a flash. With a food court and a parking garage entrance close by, you have got to watch that your little one doesn't wander.
