Annapolis is a beautiful, charming and oh-so close destination. You will discover a treasure trove of historic attractions in Annapolis, including the U.S. Naval Academy campus. I am a huge fan of the shops, restaurants and nautical offerings that Annapolis proudly offers up. During your trip to the historic town, check out the array of clothing shops, boutiques and bars/restaurants. Discover some of the 500 miles of Chesapeake Bay shoreline via the Schooner Woodwind. The sunset cruise offers a romantic outing for couples or just a great night with the family. If you are in the mood for additional fun, try the lively and a bit more raucous setting of the Red Eye Dock Bar and Harris Crab House in nearby Kent Narrows, MD just over the Bay Bridge. Belle Haven Marina is located just south of Old Town Alexandria, VA. This charming marina is owned by the National Park Service. It serves as a great parking lot for those who wish to ride or run the Mount Vernon Trail. For boating enthusiasts, the marina offers dry docks, wet slips, rack spaces and ramp fees at reasonable prices. Waiting lists can be long, sign up early and expect to wait. For the nautical beginner a sailing school is offered. You might want to head to Old Town Alexandria for lunch. I have heard the restaurant is marginal.
